6 things to do near Barcelona
Barcelona has a countless variety of activities on offer, from its monuments, architecture, museums, shows, shopping streets, dining, beaches, …. The list could be endless. But when you’ve visited the city a few days, especially if you are interested to know what lies beyond in Barcelona, you can get out to explore other points of interest.
We will give you a list of places you can go and visit and they’re less than an hour by public transit from the city center. There for all tastes and according to your needs , you just need to find the most appropriate day and decide where you want to escape.
1.- COLÒNIA GÜELL I CRIPTA GAUDÍ – Modernist architecture
Why: The main importance of the church of the Colonia Güell in so far as Gaudí goes is that this is where Gaudí brought together for the first time all of his architectural innovations. As Gaudi said, had the church been finished it would have been a “monumental model of the Sagrada Familia”
The path through the industrial Colonia captivates tourists because of its charm and the tranquility this vestige of the Modernist era inspires through the palpable 19th century atmosphere kept alive between its streets and buildings. Currently, an important piece of historic and artistic heritage remains in the Colonia Güell.

Length: Just 25 minutes from Barcelona.

2.- SITGES – Culture and beach
Why: Sitges is known for its beaches and its atmosphere. Cultural movements of the last century have bequeathed a wonderful legacy architecture, painting, etc. constitutes one of the objectives of the visitors. Public transportation: The company offers 2 Sagalés regular bus from Barcelona to La Roca Village:
Regular line Barcelona – La Roca del Vallès commercial property Can Massagué. Monday to Saturday direct service leaving from C / Casp, 34
Regular line from Fabra i Puig Station. Monday to Friday, local buses leave from the station Fabra i Puig of Barcelona and go to La Roca Village. The most direct Sagales the company offers. It has two starting points of their direct buses to the mall. Caspe street 34 from Monday to Saturday.
Length: Just 50 minutes from Barcelona by bus.

4.- CIRCUIT DE MONTMELÓ – Racing circuit

Public transportation: You can reach Montmelo Rail commuter train from Passeig de Gràcia station
Length: From 30 min to 1 hour. By train 25 minutes, distance from the station to the circuit can walk about 40 minutes depending on rate. There is also the possibility of taking a taxi where the route falls to 5 minutes.
Price: Two zones single ticket 2,5€ (only valid for one journey within two hours of the issue of the ticket).
5.- VILASSAR DE MAR – Gastronomy and beach
Why: Vilassar has an added value, a restaurant known for the sauce that has his name , its canned seafood, its vermouth and variety of tapas.
Where: All the Maresme coast is full of good beaches for swimming.
Public transportation: Rodalies Renfe
Length:Starting from the railway station 37 minutes from Plaza Catalonia.

6.- PARC NATURAL DEL MONTSENY – Nature and hiking
Why:There are lots of trails for all levels and difficulties, and can be accessed from many different points. We offer you the possibility to access the park from one of the villages located at the foot of the mountain.
For this activity you need to be well prepared and have studied the route before it. There are also guided tours that leave from various points in the park.
Where:Public transportation: You can reach Aiguafreda Rail commuter train from Catalonia Square Station. Please note, the download station is called Sant Martí de Centelles.
